Forgive me if I’m really behind on this, but, as you can see with the frequency, I’m not exactly on top of things these days when it comes to amazing games. Sure, I get the big blockbusters, but not the smaller, often more entertaining, bits of awesomeness that float by.

This reco comes from Jean Snow’s Game blog. Cats got the right idea: name a game, and why I should play it. Hasn’t been wrong yet.

Anyway, he passed this piece on and I thought should pass it through. It’s basically eaten up my last two days and I haven’t even finished it yet.

Puzzle platform with an RPG-style setting. So you get the puzzles, you get the jumping and you get a light ‘tweak my characters’ hint, without getting all min-max on you. right up my alley these days.

Right now it’s only $9.99 on PSN, which is my choice right now, but also available on Steam. Check it out.

It's the Fall, it's time to GAME

With the fairly new faction transfer, I moved my old 60 druid over to level that beast (now) to the Big Eight Oh. It’s been a short road so far, but since the partner in crime I had with the latest escapade into Azeroth (and Outlands) has called it quits, I realized that I really just, really preferred the druid playstyle. Not far to go, and being in a non-hardcore guild is a great plan. As much as I’d like to be dropping into Icecrown Citadel when it hits, I’d rather just have fun. Not having fun is what drove me from the game. The relaxed atmosphere is still a bit of an adjustment for me, but hey, whatever.

However, there’s a poopload of new games coming down the pipeline for consoles that I just won’t be passing up. Nothing can stop me from that. Seriously, now.

Amazon just emailed me to tell me my copy of Dragon Age: Origins shipped, so I’m looking forward to that hitting my 360 a few times over the next couple of weeks.

After that, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is on pre-order from Amazon as well, as I’m far, far too lazy to even care about picking it up at the store on release day. I’d rather way a few days for it to come direct to my mailbox after the servers get slammed. I’ve got other things on my mind anyway.

Plus, even before that, and I think I’m anticipating it far more, is Left4Dead 2. I need some mayhem zombie-shooting and for some reason I skipped out on the first release, despite having a solid feeling about it, especially after the reviews. Going to pick up a used copy for $10 in any case.

Also, looking forward to Assassin’s Creed II. I’m a fan of the 3d puzzle action thing that it’s got going on, and it will be a good break from anything else, perhaps.

Ah, the holiday season is insane. Too many game releases. And all sequels. What’s up with that?

I’ve been thinking to re-install EvE online. I’m just not sure what I’d do if I did.

This weekend is one without gaming. It’s sad, yes, but with the weather unusually warm today, who cares.

Get outside and play in the sunshine, everyone!

These days, I’ve been playing a lot of Tiger Woods ’09 and Call of Duty 4. To the exclusivity of almost everything else.

New Server, New Look …

As you can well see, we’ve shifted around some look and feel here at controllercode.

Not only does this mean a more regular post schedule again, with the upgrade to a new WordPress, it should also mean better usability around the site. Maybe more for the editors, mostly, but you know, it’s kind of good for everyone.

Countdown to Tokyo Game Show

So, the TGS starts in a week now, and we’ll be in out in full force to garner some coverage of the event. Mind you, the staff here (well, me …) won’t be able to do the wonderful live-blogging that some others might, but coverage is coverage. The big boys might miss something.

So, for the readership here, is there anything you’d like to see covered? I know what I’ll be looking out for anything interesting, but if there’s rumours you want quashed or confirmed, please leave a comment or send an email via the contact page!

E3 Anti-Roundup

E3Well, it’s been a week since the event and what do we have to show for ourselves? Seems like a whole lot of nothing spectacular. Sure, we’ve got a PSP Slim goin’ down, a pile of new trailers for games we’ve already know about, and a whack-load of Crysis screengrabs. But anything significant? Nadda.

But seriously, E3, in it’s toned down form just isn’t that amazing thing we all once remembered it to be.

I miss the old E3, where you couldn’t see a day pass without some new incredibly breaking news gushing all over the industry turning it on it’s side. Maybe my nostalgia is calling out for the golden days (maybe I’m just bitter I never got to go to it when it was good) or maybe it’s a good thing that it’s not all jam-packed with excitement for the upcoming fall release schedule. I’m not sure. But it sure is different.

Fine, fine, it’s now aimed at the business and industry itself, trying to be a little more GDC-like in it’s scope, sure. But there’s nothing like a good ol’ boothbabe-filled gamer haven. I guess we’ll have to wait for the other half of the split to hit this fall, E for All, to see if the old bag still has it in her.

Big announcements, I hope we have ‘em.

Bioshock Trailer, Anticipation Builds

YouTube …

I don’t know about you, but I don’t get quite so excited, these days, when yet another FPS game comes out. Always the same thing, shoot this, get this key, open this door. I mean, I love FPS games, but the same tired formula comes out at least three times a year.

Well, Bioshock totally is the exception. I’m sure unless you live under a rock, you’ve already seen bits and pieces of this game being demoed and previewed all over the place, but I’m particularly enamoured with this new trailer feature Ken Levine doing a voice-over describing the action.

Seeing the different, although all quite gung-ho, actions you can take to “solve” a particular puzzle of a particular room makes me anticipate this game a whole lot more. It seems like even some emergent behaviour popped up while they were building this game, as Ken makes a comment about the traps in-game.  Enjoy!

World of Warcraft Gnome Showers

GnomevertisingSome rather creative folks have started using teleport hacks to beam sacrificial level 1 gnomes to great heights and crater on impact to form words. It’s a new form of spamvertizing (gnomevertising?) that seems to go beyond the private message spam that many WoW players are accustomed to seeing.

I’m not sure if I should be annoyed or intrigued. I mean, the creativity of it is just so humorous, yet, I can’t help but dislike any kind of advertising spam
