Forgive me if I’m really behind on this, but, as you can see with the frequency, I’m not exactly on top of things these days when it comes to amazing games. Sure, I get the big blockbusters, but not the smaller, often more entertaining, bits of awesomeness that float by.

This reco comes from Jean Snow’s Game blog. Cats got the right idea: name a game, and why I should play it. Hasn’t been wrong yet.
Anyway, he passed this piece on and I thought should pass it through. It’s basically eaten up my last two days and I haven’t even finished it yet.
Puzzle platform with an RPG-style setting. So you get the puzzles, you get the jumping and you get a light ‘tweak my characters’ hint, without getting all min-max on you. right up my alley these days.
Right now it’s only $9.99 on PSN, which is my choice right now, but also available on Steam. Check it out.

Well, it’s been a week since the event and what do we have to show for ourselves? Seems like a whole lot of nothing spectacular. Sure, we’ve got a PSP Slim goin’ down, a pile of new trailers for games we’ve already know about, and a whack-load of Crysis screengrabs. But anything significant? Nadda.
But seriously, E3, in it’s toned down form just isn’t that amazing thing we all once remembered it to be.
I miss the old E3, where you couldn’t see a day pass without some new incredibly breaking news gushing all over the industry turning it on it’s side. Maybe my nostalgia is calling out for the golden days (maybe I’m just bitter I never got to go to it when it was good) or maybe it’s a good thing that it’s not all jam-packed with excitement for the upcoming fall release schedule. I’m not sure. But it sure is different.
Fine, fine, it’s now aimed at the business and industry itself, trying to be a little more GDC-like in it’s scope, sure. But there’s nothing like a good ol’ boothbabe-filled gamer haven. I guess we’ll have to wait for the other half of the split to hit this fall, E for All, to see if the old bag still has it in her.
Big announcements, I hope we have ‘em.

I know we all have fond memories of playing Game Boy growing up. I know I did. Tetris matches in the school yard; Super Mario Worlds keeping me occupied, much to my parents delight, while on a long car-ride. Machines that can entertain us have been around a long time. Electronic games, too. Portable games, pocket electronic toys, well, they’re a more recent development. But I sure am glad they’re here.
In this 2 part [part 2] series, I’d like to make a brief trip through the history of portable games. From the Game & Watch to the DS and PSP, we’ve lived with these so-called toys for quite awhile. For some, an entire lifetime …

It’s pretty sad when my work desktop computer is better for gaming than my own home PC. I can rock out some of the newer, as in the last couple of years, games but nothing new. I do want to upgrade, but it’s just not happening any time soon. Perhaps a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp and XP would be best … Any suggestions?

Now, since it’s not a full-on notice from Blizzard, I’ll caveat this that it could still be rumour. I mean, after all, the “everything Blizzard will be MMO” notice was shot down (although, who knows, press spin is a funny thing). Via Kotaku, Australian Vivendi office tipped atomicmpc.com.au that starting today you can pay a $25 fee to transfer a character between your own accounts or to another realm.

European Xbox chief Neil Thompson says PS3 isn’t a next-generation games system. BUUUUURRRN! I’m not sure how it’s not a next-gen system, but I guess Microsoft is just a touch edgy about the upcoming system.
I think [Sony] has missed the ball, in that it’s not really a next-generation games player – it’s a next-generation DVD player. For us, that’s great news, because we think we make the next-generation games console. If gamers are desperate to get the next-generation DVD player, then they’ll start considering Blu-Ray and the PS3. But Sony is the company that brought us Betamax, MiniDisc and UMD – I’m not convinced people today will go and bet the farm on buying a Blu-Ray disc.

Up on IMDB, there’s some scant news about who’s going to be involved in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV. Love the mills churning the buttery goodness of rumors.

Infendo has a really nice preview of sorts on the upcoming Kirby title for the DS that was on display at E3 this year. Nice compilation of all the news that could be found on what this game will entail.

September 1
I was walking past Massey Hall just yesterday and noticed the date on the upcoming events placard. I’m planning to indulge my nerdiness and hit this up in September. Should be interesting, fun and possibly full of bigger game nerds than me.
